The Pre-Roll Has Grown Up: From Singles to Multipacks and Infused Options
There was a time when “pre-roll” basically meant one thing: cannabis flower rolled and ready to smoke. That’s still available, but today’s pre-roll shelves have become a category of their own. Singles, multipacks and infused products give shoppers considerably more variety than the traditional joint. The current Missouri Made Marijuana Joplin menu is a good snapshot of how much this category has expanded.
For the classic approach, The Solid Bernie HanaButter Pre-Roll is currently offered as a .5-gram single. The menu lists a terpene profile led by beta-caryophyllene, with limonene, humulene and linalool also represented. Another single option, The Solid Jungle Pie, comes in a 1-gram format. These products keep the idea simple: flower that’s already rolled, eliminating the preparation step.
Multipacks change the equation. Honey Green OG Runtz Pre-Roll 10pk currently packages a quarter-ounce across ten pre-rolls. Rather than buying individual pre-rolls separately, a multipack gives consumers a ready-made supply in one package. For someone who already knows the format they prefer, it’s easy to see why multipacks have become their own section of the cannabis market.
Then there are infused pre-rolls, which add cannabis concentrates to the traditional flower format. Juicy J’s Mango Jewel Infused Pre-Roll 5pk is one current example on the Joplin menu. Because infused products can differ significantly from standard flower-only pre-rolls, checking the package information and asking questions before purchasing is especially worthwhile. What looks like a familiar pre-roll on the shelf may actually represent a very different product.
